Rebates on Electric Vehicles
Electric Vehicle Point of Sale Rebate - The Government of Prince Edward Island is now offering one of the most generous electric vehicle (EV) incentives in Canada by applying a $5,750 rebate on new or used EVs at the time of sale. We also offer $3,250 to those who buy a plug-in hybrid. If you buy a new EV you may be eligible to combine this incentive with the Federal Government incentive for up to $10,750 off the purchase price.
In March 2023, EV Incentives were extended to cover even more vehicles and the program was expanded to include vehicles bought off-island at licensed dealerships. For vehicles purchased off-island you must apply for the rebate.
Rebates on electric power-assist bicycles
E-bike Incentive - active transportation option that is cleaner and more efficient than driving? We offer a $500 rebate off the cost of an e-Bike (Power Assisted Bicycle) to eligible Islanders and organizations.
Island residents are eligible for one e-Bike rebate per calendar year. PEI-registered businesses, organizations and non-profits are eligible for up to five e-Bike rebates per calendar year.
Some retailers on Prince Edward Island can subtract this rebate off the cost of the e-bike at the time you buy it. Or you can apply for the rebate yourself after you buy (on e-bikes purchased after April 1, 2022). PEI residents who purchase an e-bike off-islandwill need to apply for the rebate after purchase.
Instant rebates on bicycles
Bicycle Rebate - To encourage Islanders to adopt active transportation, we offer instant rebates of up to $100 on bicycles with a retail price between $150 and $2000 (before tax). There is a price floor of $50, which means that the bike cannot be sold for a sticker price of less than $50 after the rebate has been applied. Select retailers on Prince Edward Island offer this rebate at purchase, meaning the rebate amount is subtracted from the bike's price at the time you buy it. Contact participating PEI retailer for information on which bikes are eligible.
